Sticking to Your 2016 Diet

Are you one of the tens of millions of Americans who make losing weight one of their New Year’s resolutions? If so, get ready for an uphill battle: According to a 2013 Forbes article, only 8 percent of people will actually achieve their New Year’s resolution.

And, when it comes to dieting and losing weight, it can be one of the hardest resolutions to keep. We are bombarded with temptation for food everywhere we turn. Worse yet, it can be difficult to tell which foods exactly are good for us and which ones aren’t.

For example, some menu items at fast food restaurants appear healthy on the surface – case in point, the chicken salad at a drive-through burger joint. However, when the chicken is breaded and deep fried and the only dressing option is creamy ranch, these mirages in the food landscape end up being a calorie-rich version of bait-and-switch.

Making food the healthy way

Luckily, at Catch 35, we aren’t in the business of feeding you false promises with our food. We make our food fresh and use great care in how we prepare our dishes. This means we don’t over rely on preservatives, oils and calorie-rich sauces to prepare food and provide it flavor. We let our quality-sourced meats and ingredients provide flavor all on their own.

We pride ourselves in offering a variety of dishes for every palate and diet plan. You can even customize how you order a dish by choosing from a variety of dressings, sides and sauces. Here are some of the dishes on our lunch and dinner menus that not only will help you keep to your diet, they’re so tasty they’ll make you forget you’re on one in the first place.

Seafood Cobb salad. Fish tends to be a leaner meat (translation – fewer fats and calories), and served on a bed of lettuce instead of bed of noodles makes it a tasty but low-calorie meal. Our seafood Cobb comes with avocados – a healthy fat; hard boiled egg; lemon dill dressing; and a mixture of seafood from shrimp to scallops, never fried.

Ecuadorian Mahi Mahi. This dish will make you completely forget you’re dieting – it’s that delicious. Mahi Mahi is a white fish that we pan roast – not fry – and serve with red potatoes, shallots, fennel, grapes and lemon beurre blanc.

Salt roasted beets. This is a unique salad on our menu that will satisfy any serious sweet tooth while offering the fiber and nutrients of a root vegetable. We serve our roasted beets with goat cheese mousse, crushed pistachios and balsamic vinaigrette.

Ordering healthy

You can turn some of our dishes into even lower calorie meals by making smart substitutions. You can choose to swap out fries for creamed or sauteed baby spinach, roasted brussels sprouts (with walnuts) or butternut squash puree when available. These side dishes are still savory and won’t make you miss the fries.
